It's no secret that dating and food go hand in hand, but the latest event from community matchmaking service Do Good Dating is set to transform the commonplace social affair by wrapping up with a dose of good deeds.

The initiative is a service for those that would like to meet new friends and potential love interests as well as play their part in helping out the local community. After witnessing the rise in popularity of anonymous dating apps amongst their friendship group of 20-30 year old young professionals, the founders of Do Good Dating spotted a gap in the market for a curated blind dating service with a conscience. Previous outings have included beach clean ups, donation sorting, tree planting and fundraising for charitable children's theatre.

Their latest event is Love Birds on a Wire - a collaboration with free-range rotisserie Bird on a Wire to produce an informal setting over chicken and drinks. The casual meet up, which is also Do Good Dating's first LGBT inclusive dating event, will include a few added twists to encourage strangers to meet before they anonymously decide whether they want to go on a date volunteering in the community with any of the attendees. If it's a match, Do Good Dating takes it from there and will set the daters forth on rewarding community tasks.

Love Birds on a Wire takes place at Bird on a Wire Ponsonby on March 24. See dogooddating.com for more information.
