Overview
Dixie Barbecue have been operating their gargantuan pit-smoker on wheels for bang on one year now, dishing out some of the finest low 'n' slow American barbecue in the city.
While they can usually be seen roaming the streets or perching themselves at regular food truck gatherings, the travelling slow cookers have finally given into requests of a more permanent location. From February 25 and every Thursday following for the foreseeable future, Dixie Barbecue will take over fellow U.S-themed eatery and Ponsonby favourite Late Night Diner to form an almighty pop-up restaurant.
Using traditional pit-smoking lumber and Dixie's larger-than-life commercial wood smoker imported from the heart of America’s barbecue belt, the menu will feature a mouthwatering spread of barbecue classics including: Texas beef brisket, Georgia pulled pork, Tennessee pork spare ribs, Alabama chicken quarters, and a range of sides such as coleslaw, bread and butter pickles and hushpuppies. Rounding off the equation will be two staples from the Dixie menu: banana pudding and peanut butter pie.
The Dixie Barbecue will take over Late Night Diner (152B Ponsonby Road) on February 25 and every Thursday following.
