Ponsonby's Vodka Room Welcomes a New Late Night Menu and Luxury Karaoke
Go ahead, sing with your mouth full — everyone else will be too busy eating to care.
We're pretty sure when John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John sang 'You're the One That I Want', they were talking about duck fat potatoes and gourmet toasted sandwiches. If those just happen to be your dream late night snacks — and your karaoke duet of choice — then Vodka Room is set to become your last stop on the Friday after-work-drinks itinerary.
Their new carb-laden late night menu is available from midnight until 3am; a perfectly timed window to help you feel better than terrible the next day. As well as those golden village potatoes and the pelmeni dumplings, traditional steamed parcels of beef (with the less traditional twist of kimchi) wrapped in pastry, the menu features the VR Bolshoi Sandwich. This is one brazen sandwich that combines cheese, onions, pickles, Russian ketchup and — perhaps not your usual toastie filling but don't knock it 'til you've devoured it — black pudding with melted salo (cured pork fat). A different and delicious alternative to the classic fast food joints along the Ponsonby strip.
The Vodka Room's two luxury karaoke rooms are not quiet in any sense of the word. Custom-built French Oak tables sit alongside red leather couches, bear skins, wall-mounted Kalashnikov rifle, chandeliers and that ingenious "Press for Vodka" button that Ponsonby's home of the clear spirit is known for.
Settle yourselves amongst the loud surroundings and order enough dumplings and toasted goodness to bolster you for another knock-out performance of Grease classics.
