Overview
One of Auckland's most exclusive members only bars, Seafarers, is opening its doors to the public from February 25 to host eight pop-up food, drink and art experiences. The venue's incredible rooftop space will spring to life with unique and quirky themes, from a celebration of duck in speakeasy surrounds, to DIY jelly-ology, vegetable-inspired cocktails and boozy adult desserts.
Kicking off the programme from February 25 to March 3 is Duck Duck Pork— an opium den themed speakeasy from the creators of K'Rd's Lucky Lucky Dumplings. The pop-up will feature a menu of duck, pancakes, pork and dumplings. The day following on March 4 will feature Grease Alive— a rooftop showing of the classic musical, Grease, together with cocktails, canapés and a five-piece band playing the film's soundtrack.
The Pink Flamingo will bring soda bars of the '60s and '70s to life, mixing ice cream and booze to create alluring adult desserts; New Edition will exhibit Auckland's most exciting new artists, with musical accompaniment from up-and-coming musicians; Hi Darling! High Fashion High Tea is a marriage of fashion and food with nibbles by celebrity chef Josh Emett and a showing of Juliette Hogan's Summer/Spring 17 line; Opposites Attract will see Jessica Mentis (aka The Jellyologist) lead a night of DIY jelly experimentation (think candy floss and bacon); When Vegetables Take Over welcomes mixologist Paul Franich and chef Cobus Klopper to convince you that eating greens is cool over a five-course vegetarian degustation and cocktail experience; and from April 3-7, The Galley will invite chefs from Ebisu, Madame Woo, Azabu and Ostro to design their own unique oyster variations.
