Arriving in the North Shore's new dining precinct late last year, with a second location popping up in Browns Bay in July, Shake Out is a fresh and speedy fast-food joint from the folks behind BurgerFuel. The concept serves a stripped back menu of burgers, shakes, sides and sundaes — served fast.

Diners won't find flashy accoutrements like pickled beets and truffle mascarpone; the menu features four simple burgers using premium ingredients — think pure New Zealand beef, free-range chicken, pillowy potato and pumpkin buns and house-made sauces. In the sides department there are skin-on shoestring fries, cheesy fries, and a whole pickle served in a compostable cup. To wash everything down diners can take their pick from organic dairy milkshakes and a range of sodas.

Shake Out has been designed with quick service in mind. Orders are placed and paid for via a cashless kiosk system, and customers are notified with a buzzer once their order is ready. Designed for those on the go, all menu items have been designed to fit in one hand. And while your burger may be served in single-use packaging, it's all totally compostable.

Shake Out can be found in the Goodside precinct at Smales Farm in Takapuna and along Anzac Road in Browns Bay.
