Forget an afternoon nibbling miniature cakes with pots of English breakfast; Seafarers' SEVEN has flipped the idea of high tea on its head with a new Saturday offering. Touted as a daytime party, the HIGHNESS series will feature a three-tier menu, bottomless mimosas and DJs providing the dining soundtrack.

Created by head chef Fred Wong, the menu side-steps your average spread of asparagus rolls, spongy lamingtons and finger-sized filos with Pan-Asian favourites stacked across your classic high tea setup. On tier one diners will be treated to fried tempura eggplant, popcorn shrimp and five spice duck salad; tier two will flaunt a trio of dumplings; and the base tier will offer a platter of sushi rolls and sashimi. To satisfy that sweet tooth a selection including macarons and Portuguese tarts can be added for $12 per person.

In the drinks department there's a two-hour service of bottomless mimosas for an additional $25 as well as a selection of early afternoon cocktails. Non-alcoholic beverages are served as part of the package.

Auckland's DJ Soraya will be on hand to provide appropriate afternoon dance anthems.

SEVEN's full HIGHNESS high tea is $40 per person and runs from 1-5pm every Saturday. Bookings are essential for the service, with a minimum of two diners and a maximum of 20.
