MOR Is Auckland's New Online Micro-Bakery Delivering Fresh Croissants Right to Your Door This Weekend

Nothing gives us more joy on a weekend morning than savouring a good pastry and coffee combo. It's one of life's simple pleasures — often best enjoyed on the deck, on the couch or in bed (just watch for crumbs). That's why it seems almost unfair that we often have to get up and dressed to secure the bag, especially on a Sunday.

Not anymore (there's a pun there somewhere) — MOR is Auckland's new online micro-bakery, delivering boxes of baked goods to your door.

Offering a small-but-perfectly-formed selection of sweet (and sometimes savoury) treats, MOR is run by chefs and friends Laura Metcalf and Kelsie Culpan, who studied pastry together at AUT. After uni they each went their separate ways to work as pastry chefs overseas: Laura to Melbourne and Kelsie to London. Once they moved back to Auckland and found themselves working together again, they decided to branch out on their own.

"We started MOR out of sheer love for what we do and we are so excited to be able to share it with everyone," the pair told Concrete Playground.

"We are a micro bakery with a huge focus on quality over quantity. We take pride in everything that we produce and the little details really matter to us. There's something so comforting about a freshly baked pastry and we'd love for everyone to experience that."

And now you can: the pastries are baked fresh each morning and delivered around Auckand from Thursday to Sunday.

Just choose your favourite pastry and how many you want to get your mitts on — perhaps six of the almond pain au chocolat if you're hosting a morning tea, or get 10 butter croissants for your next boozy brunch. Yes, you can opt for a mixed box if you get decision-making anxiety.

Then just pay for delivery according to your postcode — if you're outside the zone, you can head to the kitchen in Glendene in to pick them up.

MOR's menu will change seasonally as the pair play with new flavours and techniques to showcase seasonal produce — so we'd recommend getting in quick to try them all.
