Overview

You knew that your average takeaway Indian curry was about to get some real competition when Sid Sahrawat's announced that he would be changing the direction of his award-winning fine dining restaurant Sidart from contemporary Kiwi cuisine to "progressive Indian cuisine" back in May.

The time has now come for the the new menu, kicking in mid-July, to be introduced the world: don't expect your usual curry, naan, white rice with a side of Coke combo.

The high-end, new menu features the likes of kingfish, scampi, tamarind, mustard seeds and pork jowl. "I wanted to show how Indian flavours can actually be incorporated within an elevated degustation experience." Sahrawat, who spent his childhood in India, said.

The five-course degustation is still available for $95 per person from Tuesday to Thursday, while the Full Discovery menu is priced at $160 per person is available Tuesday to Saturday. Wine pairings are available for both options. The restaurant's popular Friday chef collaboration lunch offer — a five-course degustation priced at $65 per person — will remain, however the Tuesday Test Kitchen, where chefs test out new dishes, will not be available beyond July 10.

Sahrawat also runs high end Indian restaurant Cassia and will be adding The French Cafe to his growing restaurant empire in September.
