Ponsonby's Month-Long Restaurant Festival Is Serving Up More Than 50 Fixed-Price Menus for 2021
More than 50 of the neighbourhood's venues have jumped onboard to serve up dish and drink pairings.
Month-long food celebration Eat Drink Love Ponsonby is heading back for its second year to showcase the best of what the inner city suburb has to offer.
The first edition in 2019 saw everything from Champagne tasting masterclasses, Middle Eastern cooking lessons and high cheese tastings. This time more than 50 of the neighbourhood's venues — from long-standing institutions to up and coming casual eateries — have jumped onboard to serve up dish and drink pairings at the fixed price points of $25 and under, $25 to $50, and $55+.
There are plenty of options to get you started in the $25 and under bracket. At the Midnight Gardener you can grab a basket of regular dumplings and beer for just $20, cocktail bar Clipper is shaking and stirring three different milk punches for $15 a pop, and Fitzroy Lounge Bar will be the place to sit down for a two-person antipasto board with bubbles or beer.
Elsewhere, Mekong Baby will set you up for the afternoon with its five-dish lunch menu and wine for $32 per person. At Ponsonby Road favourite SPQR you can choose from two courses for $42, while diners at Azabu can expect a taster selection of the restaurant's best and most popular dishes for $55 per person
For those with looser purse strings, Farina is throwing down a shared banquet for groups of four and above for $85 per person, and Chef Sid Sahrawat and his Sidart team at have created five and seven-course plant-based menus for $115 or $155 per person, respectively. Complete the tasting journey with vegan wine matches.
Eat Drink Love Ponsonby will take place from 1–30 May, 2021. See the festival website for the full list of fixed price menus and more information.
