Overview

Easing back into the daily grind this week? Whether you're a student, writer, designer or business owner, working from home isn't always easy, and if you're staring down the barrel of yet another year of it there's a good chance it's lost it's firmly lost its sheen.

Study areas, shared spaces and other such areas are all designed to help get as much done — with no Netflix around to distract. But there's one age-old place equipped with coffee, wifi and a nice buzz to get some work done — a cafe. Auckland is full of them. As such, we've rounded up the best cafes to take your laptop to and actually get some work done.

FEDERAL DELICATESSEN

The menu at Al Brown's Fed Deli is filled with comfort food. Whether you need a bagel to get through your thesis or their delicious banoffee pie, it won't break the bank. The all-day eatery serves up New York deli-inspired fare and the Skycity wifi ensures you won't have to worry about hot-spotting. The friendly service is topped only by the bottomless filter coffee which is sure to help with your deadlines. Grab your laptop, order a large poutine and get working.

AMANO

No matter the time of the day, Amano is always full of happy diners. A testament to the team, Amano has secured a spot as one of Auckland's top eateries. The sheer size of Amano gives it an intimacy, with all the various conversations going on at once. The delicious coffee paired with the freshly baked cabinet items is the perfect sustenance while you get your work completed. Moreover, the large tables and central location make Amano an ideal meeting spot for freelancers.

REMEDY CAFE

Remedy Cafe is easily one of the CBD's best spots for coffee. A cosy, hole-in-the-wall, Remedy is hidden behind Father Ted's on Wellesley Street. The morning rush will see it filled with regulars, with the staff remembering multiple usuals and pumping out their morning caffeine fix. Make sure to order the açai bowl, ideal power food that won't leave you feeling sluggish. Remedy doesn't have a large seating offering but if you're lucky, you'll be able to grab a table and perch yourself there for a few hours.

NOTTING HILL KITCHEN

Located on Parnell Road, Notting Hill Kitchen always has a buzzing atmosphere that gives this cafe its distinct personality. The food is always fresh with a wide range to choose from which, alongside the great service, makes Notting Hill perfect for just about any meal. If you really need to get some work done, head to the seating area out back for some peace and quiet. Treat yourself to a glass of wine when you're done.

BAMBINA CAFE

With plug points and wifi aplenty, it's no wonder Bambina has garnered a reputation amongst freelancers. During the week, it's common to see a variety of people working on projects or meeting clients. Bambina has smaller tables but also has a large table in the centre of its Ponsonby cafe, which is perfect for nutting out a brief with a client. The food is simple, light and fresh — perfect for a boost of energy especially paired with an Allpress coffee.

CRAVE

For those seeking somewhere outside of the CBD, Morningside has become a true hub for foodies. In the midst of the excellent offerings is the formidable Crave. Owned by a neighbourhood collective, all the profits go towards the community. If that's not enough reason to visit, the food and service are. On the warmer days, grab a seat on the deck with a coffee and your laptop. Who needs an office?

BESTIE

One of the best little cafes in Auckland is also aptly suited for the mobile worker. Sharing seating space with the neighbouring eateries in the open food hall of St Kevin's Arcade, it's the perfect spot to blend in to the background. With some of the most tempting sweet treats in town, killer coffee and surrounded by interesting shops to browse, this is a top spot to take yourself on a work date.
