Overview

After two weeks slinging contactless takeaways from empty restaurants, the hospitality industry has been given the green light for dine-in customers — although the move hasn't come without some strict distancing guidelines. Under COVID-19 Alert Level 2, restaurants, cafes and bars (eventually) can open as long as they stick to the three S's: diners must be 'seated', 'separated' from each other, and each table must have its own 'single server'.

While in-restaurant dining experiences will look different from here on, there's another way you can support the industry from the comfort of home — all while enjoying top-quality cooking and avoiding the dishes. Dinner at yours is a new platform which brings high-end hospitality into your dining room/living room/guest quarters/basement/wherever suits. The stop-gap idea was created by former Bauer Media events specialist James Wotton and advertising exec Daniel Thorn in an effort to inject revenue back into the industry and keep as many frontline staff employed as possible.

The platform aims to recreate top Auckland restaurant experiences in your own home, including the delights of table service and fine cuisine. Since its launch, Dinner at home has added the likes of Cazador, Cibo, Culprit and Paris Butter to its books — with more on the way.

As the country moves to Alert Level 2 on Thursday, 14 May, diners can book in unique dining experiences from each venue starting at $220 per person. And then once bookings have been confirmed, the Dinner at yours team will start the process of planning your experience.
