Ben Gusto - CLOSED

I'm usually quite a big fan of Ben Gusto.

Overview

Browns Bay is known for many things. The Thursday morning stampede of elderly from the nearby retirement home, its Penguino ice cream (only served during summer), the beach and Ben Gusto. The cafe which was started in 2008 has yet to lose out its status as the best cafe in Browns Bay, and usually I'm quite a big fan of Ben Gusto too. Here's why:

1) The waffles (served with gelato).

2) The location: think beachside -with a view of some gromits playing in the skatepark.

3) The vibe. Ben Gusto is the kind of place that you can hang out at for hours - due to its nice outdoor area, wonderful staff and excellent food.

4) Parking - out here in the suburbs parking doesn't cost a thing and usually only takes about a minute or two to find.

However, my opinion of Ben Gusto has been a little bit skewed as of today (see 7/10 rating) due to a little bit of a faux pas on their behalf. I ordered creamy mushrooms on toast for breakfast, a meal which comes with a side of hash browns. Now, if you're going to promise a side of hash browns at a pretty decent price bracket, then the last thing I want to see is one of the McCains hashbrowns. But I'm willing to overlook this. I think.

So, I'm not sure where that leaves me and Ben Gusto. I still love their waffles, and everything else I listed above, but hash browns is a little bit of deal breaker. If you're out there Ben Gusto, I hope you change your ways and that we can work something out.
