Overview

Making its home at 82 Karangahape Rd is a quirky new café and eatery called Between. Its mixed fusion of Asian and European cuisine will open your tastebuds to Parisian delicacies and Vietnamese eats.

The smell of delicate baked goods draws you into the large lofty space that is packed with heaps of personality. It features a unique fit-out starring a large counter, retro tiled floor and a caged DJ booth. You'll find little quirks dotted throughout the space; toys, antiques and figurines are just some of the oddities that you'll encounter.

The vibrant joint is beyond your average Auckland eatery, it is perfect for any occasion, whether that be breakfast, lunch or dinner or all three if you fancy, Between has it all.

As you look at the beautifully designed handmade menu you'll find yourself spoilt for choice. I opted for the open toast — an incredible blend of mashed avocado, creamy cottage cheese and a perfectly cooked poached egg served on mixed grain toast. All for just $11, now that's a bargain.

Now that the winter is slowly creeping up another go to would be the slow cooked beef cheeks, served with roasted potatoes and an aromatic red wine mirepoix. Pair that with a mint delight hot chocolate for after and you'll be set for those cold winter nights.

Or if you're not feeling hot coco then why not sink your teeth into their stunning range of miniature deserts including a well-crafted fruit tart, a citrusy mango cake and who could forget the injectable tiramisu.

If you visit Between you're guaranteed to leave with one satisfied belly, a grin on your chops and an unforgettable souvenir for your friends — their quirky transparent business card.
