Overview

From a stall at the La Cigale Markets to opening their third location, the team behind The Raw Kitchen have had a busy couple of years. If you've visited the flagship store in Ponsonby, or grabbed a juice from Well+Good in City Works Depot, you'll know they have nailed the raw food formula. Now you can spread your green juice wings a little further as they have opened their Newmarket location, off Kent Street, on Osborne Lane. In a pretty little courtyard, they have set up a mostly takeaway shop that connects to Dry & Tea. Takeaway options are handed over in tidy packaging, or there's some outdoor garden seating if it's sunny and you don't want to head back to the office just yet.

On display is a mixture of cold pressed juices, salads, wraps and treats - healthy, tasty options on a quick lunch run, or on the weekend if you're trying to compensate for the night before. It's worth noting that their raw slices (try chocolate peppermint) taste delicious. I say it's worth noting because I have on occasion come across raw baking that has tasted like hand lotion. Which is kind of disappointing. You're safe here friends, the food is glorious. Another constant across all three locations is that the staff are really friendly and knowledgable. Just the right kind of customer service that makes you want to go back and become a regular.

If you haven't been to this area of Newmarket recently, go check it out. The collard wraps and carrot juices are calling your name. And if you're feeling really adventurous, they have just published The Raw Kitchen cookbook, so you can master their banoffee or black forest cake yourself. Oh, go on then.
