Overview

From the moment you walk through the door, everything about Violà Café is inviting, vibrant and unique. The décor is colourful and interesting; the music, ambient and every customer receives a warm smile and ‘bonjour!’ from the largely French staff.

You only need to look at the extensive cabinet food, breads and pastries to realise that this is no standard café fare but finely crafted, authentic French Mediterranean food served up with pride. Even if you decide to order off the menu, choosing what to have is no easy task. Options include sweet crepes, savoury galettes and weekly specials – even vegetarians and people on gluten free diets are well catered for.

For an original take on a breakfast classic, I often go for the egg benedict galette filled with spinach and topped with a hollandaise egg. It’s accompanied by your choice of hot smoked salmon, bacon, ham or mushrooms and tomatoes. The coffee and Moroccan mint tea are also both divine. If you’re in for lunch, why not try a glass of French cider or wine?

Unsurprisingly, this hidden gem’s a big hit with the locals and tends to fill up fast. But don't worry, they take bookings so you can always be guaranteed a spot. If you haven’t been there yet, you’re in for a real treat!
