Dry & Tea

A blow wave bar with a difference.

Overview

The best quick fixes for the worst days include a litre of neapolitan except the vanilla, a cuddle with a small fluffy animal, a steaming hot cuppa and a blow wave. Dry & Tea can help with half of these.

The Cityworks branch feels like walking into a sanctuary. It is the kind of place where you swing open the door, step inside and sigh. Thanks to the team at Cheshire Architects, the interior radiates femininity despite the fire station-esque doors and enormous steel surrounds. Dark red chairs are complemented by green and pink upholstery, all of which tie in with the marble countertops and wooden walls. The whole salon is almost incongruent with the rest of the Cityworks complex, but not in a jarring way, instead it feels like an oasis within the urban arena.

Dry & Tea is not your average hairdressing salon. Upon entry, make a selection from the extensive T2 range and select an accompaniment by way of cake, slice or scone. Then take a seat on one of the styling chairs and prepare to be pampered. The salon offers your usual range of hair treatments, although blow waves are their speciality, and the prices are as you’d expect to pay for quality hair styling in the city.

If you’re not quite convinced, might I add that Dry & Tea have a liquor licence. And they offer cocktails.
