Overview

From painting and sculpture to patchwork, carving and jewellery making — you'll find it all on the Central Otago Arts Trail. With more than 100 artists and spaces scattered throughout Cromwell, Bannockburn, Roxburgh, Alexandra, Oamaru and Ranfurly — there's sure to be a piece of art or hand-made trinket that speaks to you. The trail is a great weekend activity, you can while away the day looking at pretty things and maybe pick up a souvenir for your friends at home.

If you're feeling particularly sprightly, grab a bike and cycle along the Otago Rail Trail. Fitness and culture, what more do you need? Food. So, once you've finished all that perusing and pedalling, head to Riverside Kitchen just 15 minutes north of Oamaru in North Otago — for some authentic farm-to-table fare.
