Omaka Aviation Centre
Feel as though you’ve stepped back in time, and set aside two (or realistically three) hours to explore the military aircrafts from both World Wars brought to life in cinematic dioramas.
Overview
At the Omaka Aviation Heritage centre near the Blenheim airport, two standard-issue hangars house Sir Peter Jackson's collection of military aircraft from both World Wars, which are brought to life in dioramas by those clever people at Weta Workshop and WingNut films. It's an understandable cinematic set-up, a plane – complete with bullet holes crashed into a tree in a snowy landscape, another being flown by the pilot standing on the wing.
