Overview

There's a whole other magical world underwater that we rarely get to see. Enter the Milford Sound Observatory, New Zealand's only floating underwater observatory. Walk down the steps to the viewing chamber ten metres below sea level and see colourful aquatic life up close. Unlike an aquarium, the marine life is free to come and go as they please which means you're given a chance to see the animals in their normal habitat interacting with each other as they would in the wild.

The Observatory is in Harrison Cove and only accessible by boat as part of a cruise from the Milford Sound Visitor Terminal.
