This year has certainly been a hard one to travel, but with the New Zealand Government's removal of physical distancing on public transport it opens up more airline seats and at cheaper prices.

From today Air New Zealand is making more than 180,000 of its cheapest fares available for sale across 20 destinations. Whether you want to catch up with friends on the east coast, explore Rotorua's geothermal wonderland or get away for a romantic long weekend in Queenstown — there are plenty to of affordable options to choose from.

Flights start at $39 one way, with the best travel availability from 13 October 2020. There are almost 9000 flights available during the upcoming school holidays. Air New Zealand is also removing change fees for domestic flights booked for travel up until 31 March 2021.

The carrier assures that flying remains a safe way to travel. Its air crew will be wearing face masks and gloves, and face coverings are a legal requirement for all travellers. Although seating restrictions have been dropped, the Government still advises that it's a good idea to try and maintain physical distance on public transport where possible. Travellers are also advised to practise good hygiene, including sanitising your hands, coughing into your elbow and staying home if you are unwell.
