Air New Zealand Is Hosting a Themed Mardi Gras Flight to Sydney
Get the party started early with inflight shenanigans and pre-departure cocktails.
Sydney Mardi Gras takes over the city each year with over 100 parties, shows, and late-night shindigs. The main event of the huge LGBTQI+ celebration is a colourful parade of floats and performers that make their way down Flinders and Oxford Streets. Kiwis looking to jump the ditch for Sydney Mardi Gras 2020 can now get the party started early with Air New Zealand's themed 'Party Gras' flight.
Set to take off from Auckland on Friday, 28 February, the flight will be hosted by drag queen divas Buckwheat and Tess Tickle, who promise all means of inflight shenanigans and will have guests dancing off the aircraft in Sydney. Before boarding the Queen of the Sky, revellers will be treated to cocktails at the pre-departure gate party. There will also be prizes for those dressed to impress.
Air New Zealand General Manager Loyalty & Customer Direct Jeremy O'Brien says there's been a festival vibe on previous Mardi Gras flights and the airline expects every seat on the A321neo to sell out. "With Buckwheat and Tess Tickle hosting the fun, this promises to be the most entertaining way for Kiwis to touchdown in Sydney for the biggest weekend on the Pride calendar."
Tickets for the Party Gras flight are available through the airline's Grabaseat website. Grabaseat is releasing a limited number of introductory fares, with flights starting at $499 return and packages at just $799 per person, including return flights and two nights at the Sydney Harbour Marriot.
Air New Zealand's 'Party Gras' flight takes off from Auckland on Friday, 28 February with the return trip scheduled for Sunday, 1 March, 2020. For more information and to book, visit grabaseat.co.nz/packages.
