Overview
New Zealand's national stadium, Eden Park, has been busy looking for new ways to make the most of its 50,000-capacity space between sporting events. Over the past 12 months the now Council-backed stadium has been transformed into a nine-hole golf course and hosted a huge touring Nelson Mandela exhibition. Plans have also been put in place (and scrapped) to host a Live Aid-style benefit concert, while experiences like a guided stadium roof walk and stadium-length zipline will attract adrenaline junkies in the not-too-distant future.
Now, it has been revealed that visitors will be able to enjoy their game of two halves and then sleep forty winks in a premium glamping dome.
Forget local accomodation options; Eden Park's one-of-a-kind Staydium Glamping experience will take over an elevated northeastern corner of the stadium overlooking one of the world's most famous playing fields. As well as creature comforts and custom Samsung and Nood Furniture fit outs, the glamping experience will come with direct to dome dining. Guests are welcomed to enjoy a free behind-the-scenes tour of Eden Park, including the home team changing rooms, and game day packages will be available for sports fans.
The self-contained dome is currently in the process of being built and is due for completion at the end of June.
