Overview

The nation's home of sport, Eden Park, will soon welcome another attraction that doesn't involve superhuman athletes chasing an egg-shaped ball around a field. A joint initiative between The Eden Park Trust and height solution specialists Total Property Services seeks to add another element to the stadium experience, in the form of a high-flying zipline.

Perched 35 metres above ground, the zipline will give adrenaline junkies the chance to see the famous stadium from an entirely new angle as they whizz across the field from the North to South Stand.

The attraction was trialled at the stadium's annual Christmas barbecue for residents last week and the operators are currently working on a permanent solution. The opening hours for the public are still yet to be confirmed but the intended launch is around March/April 2018. Eden Park CEO Nick Sautner says, "Discussions are underway with hirers to enable zipline operations prior to the gates opening at selected international and domestic fixtures."

Eden Park is also exploring the possibility of rooftop tours to add another element for patrons looking to experience Auckland from new heights.
