Overview

We here at Concrete Playground love Auckland. But with a city that's 1082 km squared, it's hard to cover every corner. And while we're all over Muriwai's black sandy beaches out West, love having a beer at Coast up North in Orewa and know the inner-city like the back of our hands, we've got a wee bit of blind spot down South. That's where you come in.

Concrete Playground is looking for an additional paid freelance reviewer based in South Auckland to join us, starting immediately. We're looking for someone who knows about the best takeaway joints, restaurants and bars down South and wants to tell the rest of Auckland about them.

About you:

You have taste. You love a good burger but you also like branching out and trying strange and wonderful things like green tea-flavoured Kit Kats (yup, it's a thing). You're well-versed in the streets of South Auckland and know where to find the best damn food in the neighbourhood. You can spit out witty short form at a moment’s notice but also like taking your time doing longer, more investigative pieces. You know how to use a semicolon.

About us:

We aim to be the most trusted and authoritative guide to cities across Australia and New Zealand. In other words, we want to show people the best cool shit to do, eat and drink around town in a funny, truthful, reliable and interesting manner.

The ideal candidate MUST:

– Write original, creative and honest copy in a timely manner

– Do their research (press releases and Wikipedia don’t count, sorry)

– Love living in South Auckland

– Deliver accurate copy

– Be brimming with ideas for local news features related to culture, music, food, design and sustainability

Extra points for:

– Photography/video skills

To apply, email laetitia@concreteplayground.co.nz with the header “SOUTH AUCKLAND CONTRIBUTOR”, a little bit about yourself and some relevant samples of your work. Applications close midnight on the 30th of July, 2015.
