The Mayfair, Christchurch's New $23m Boutique Luxury Hotel Has Finally Opened
The premium new hotel is offering a relaxed take on luxury for visitors to the garden city.
Got a trip booked to the South Island? Whether you're en route to a ski sojourn or you just want to see how the garden city is coming along over a decade post-quake, you'll want to treat yourself to a stay in Christchurch's newest luxury hotel, which has just opened its doors.
Taking four years and a cool $23 million to complete, The Mayfair is a "fresh take on luxury" according to general manager Ritch Crannitch, who headed home to Christchurch from Melbourne for the job.
"Luxury no longer has to be about formality," he said. "Instead, it's relaxed, thoughtful, and welcoming at every touchpoint: a beautiful space, complemented by attentive service."
The hotel certainly makes a statement from the outside, thanks to its black, glass and concrete exterior.
Boasting 67 rooms over five stories, the Mayfair has a series of spacious suites — including several premium "top of house" rooms with panoramic views over Hagley Park and the Southern Alps.
Signature restaurant Majestic at Mayfair offers all-day dining, including an extremely 'grammable brunch menu from executive chef Nick Tatom (Hello Sunday) and a high tea experience from French patisserie chef Aurelien Fermen. At night, it transforms into a premium cocktail bar.
Relaxed, modern, but without a shortage of little luxuries, this premium new offering to Christchurch's accommodation scene is worth a trip ASAP.
The Mayfair is now open at 155 Victoria Street, Christchurch Central City.
