Set on Lake Wakatipu, just beyond Queenstown's upbeat hub, Avani is gearing up to unveil a landmark lifestyle hotel this September. Positioned as the brand's New Zealand flagship, Avani Queenstown will move into the former Oaks Shores Resort, transforming the place with a significant update designed to keep Queenstown's energy bubbling away inside.

Once the doors open, guests will have access to a full-service hotel with a concept ripe for lifestyle-led stays. Pairing sleek, modern interiors with a considered selection of finishes inspired by the surrounding region, Avani Queenstown will provide ample social spaces, ready to host an après-ski hang-out by the fireplace or a private celebration.

With Queenstown increasingly geared towards luxe getaways, the hotel aims to deliver a functional but happening hideaway, so guests can make the most of their days on the slopes or in the countryside, then retreat to a suitably cosy base. Soon offering a solid list of wellness and dining amenities, Avani Queenstown seeks to cater to the region's ever-growing popularity with locals and travellers alike.

"Avani Queenstown introduces a premium lifestyle offering to one of New Zealand's most dynamic tourism destinations. Combining a standout lakefront location with Avani's design-led approach, the hotel delivers a contemporary guest experience that reflects how travellers increasingly want to stay, connect and experience a destination," says Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Australasia.

On the wellness front, the hotel will provide guests with ample opportunity to rest and recharge, whether they've come from the snow or stepped off a scenic cruise along Lake Wakatipu. Think tailored treatments, therapies and massages, along with an extensive on-site gym and other fitness facilities, so you can keep up with your workouts.

In terms of dining, Avani Queenstown will feature Six to Midnight — an all-day dining venue focused on local and seasonal produce. Spanning global cuisine, expect a social atmosphere, as diners gather for well-catered breakfast, lunch and à la carte evening dining, plus special occasions like high tea and après-ski gatherings.

Avani Queenstown is expected to open in September 2026 at 327-343 Frankton Road, Queenstown. Head to the website for more information.
