Overview
If you're keen to get out in the bush, but you're not quite ready to go without a bathroom and use flint for fire starters, then Cotter Campground is an ideal spot. You'll feel worlds away from the city — even if it is only a 25-minute drive from Canberra's centre — while still having access to electric and fire barbecues, toilets and hot shower facilities at this well-catered campsite. Just remember to BYO firewood.
This is where the clear waters of the Cotter River and Murrumbidgee River meet, which makes it perfect for summer swims, fishing and canoeing. You can also hike the nearby trails, including those in adjoining reserves and forests. You'll just need to book online to secure a patch at the campground.
