Sarah Riley is New Zealand's first high fashion shoe designer whose design philosophy is "to create shoes that women feel a million dollars in." Renowned for her unique designs, Sarah likes to keep it that way, with every shoe handmade in Italy and only a limited amount of each design produced.

Starting in 2007, Sarah was hailed for her fast growing business making high end heels for fashion forward women. However problems on the business side forced her to shut up shop. After a two year absence from the industry, Sarah has returned to the fashion scene catering once again to New Zealand's shoe connoisseurs.

Now into her second season, Sarah Riley has certainly proved she's still got what it takes. Her newly released summer 2012 collection "Sweet Indulgence" is a decadent selection of versatile high heeled sandals in tasty vanilla, peach and buttery gold colours, full of her signature timeless style.

Concrete Playground catches up with Sarah to get a glimpse of life as a shoe designer in New Zealand.

Most days you will find me researching fabulous footwear trends in my Auckland studio.

When I'm not there I am spending time with my two lovely Chihuahuas or scoping magazine and bookstores.

At the moment I am busy designing my next fabulous collection which is being made in Europe.

I'm inspired by true artisans like Alexander McQueen.

My most memorable moment in the industry has to be when I receive positive feedback from my loyal customers. It's so rewarding to know you are producing something people love.

The best shoe tip I could give anyone is to buy quality, fashion forward designs that you know will work season after season.

Next on my agenda Shoe domination in Europe!

I secretly love staring at all the shoes I have, and dipping scorched almonds into tea.
