Nike Releases Tech Fleece Collection

Tracksuits are not typically sexy, yet Nike Sportswear’s latest innovation breathes new life into track suiting, infusing it with innovative technology and a streamlined sex appeal. The Nike Tech Fleece Collection has evolved the fit, feel and function of some of Nike’s most iconic sportswear silhouettes, evolving every detail to remove bulk and create a lightweight and sophisticated collection.  The cornerstone of Nike’s six new styles is the cutting edge thermal fabrication that offers the ultimate in lightweight warmth and responds to the natural motion of the wearer.

The reinvented fleece plush foam is fused between layers of cotton jersey to create warmth without the weight. The smooth jersey facing gives the garments a modern, streamlined look both inside and out, while the high performance synthetic foam keeps you ultra snug. It’s lighter, warmer and more breathable, plus it looks damn good.

The collection offers two men’s and four women’s styles, with each piece beautifully panelled, slim fitting and sleek. The styles were stripped down to only essential elements and rebuilt from the inside out to ensure comfort and mobility. Restructuring slimmed the garment’s silhouettes and reduced overall topstitching and seaming, putting a modern, sophisticated spin on your prototypical fleece tracksuiting.

Attention to detail and hidden features are intrinsic to Nike Sportswear’s design process. We decided to break down five of our favourite features from this new collection:

1. POCKET DETAILING

Seam bound, instead of stitched, the Kangaroo pockets in the Nike Tech Fleece Hoody reinforce that sleek, streamlined appearance. The pockets extend right to the hem to make this storage space even more accessible and the bar tacks at the pocket seams enhance the garment’s durability. The hoody also features a zip pocket on the left side of the chest much like the iconic Nike Destroyer jacket and two internal media pockets for your phone, ipod or space to pop your eftpos card for a post work-out coffee.

2. SHAPED WRIST CUFFS

Say goodbye to stretched out and frayed ribbed cuffs and let your wrists welcome techy black elastic micro binding that fits ever so snugly and ergonomically.  The cuffs’ updated appearance offers thumb holes in some styles (who doesn’t love a thumbhole?) and the sleek black complements the bold black zippers and the grey marle fleece.

3. FUNNEL NECK

On those cold mornings there is nothing worse than baring your neck to the elements. The Funnel Neck pushes the classic hoodie into the future and is designed in a slightly thinner, softer fleece for an enhanced drape on the body. The funnel neck is one multi-talented feature, not only can it be worn as a hood, but it also works as a cowl-neck with a neck toggle so you can adjust as you see fit.

4. CAPE

Perhaps the most modern and unique silhouette in the collection, the Tech Cape Hoody offers an exaggerated dropped back hem and a zippered vent so you can self adjust. Made from the same lighter fabric the funnel neck offers, the softer fabric provides a slight drape on the body, fastened together by the distinctive asymmetrical full front zipper.

5. KNEE ARTICULATION

You can’t forget the humble trackpant, these bad boys are built to provide long-lasting warmth. The men’s trackpant offers inset construction for enhanced knee articulation and teamed with the easy fit, you’ll never want to take them off.
