Overview

Loisaba Conservancy is a 57,000-acre animal sanctuary and working ranch plays host to a series of accommodations. Firstly, the Loisaba Lodo Springs offers an ultra-private experience with eight individual rooms with crazy good views across the magical landscape, stretching out to Mount Kenya. Then there's the Loisaba Tented Camp which is the ultimate in safari glamping. But we are totally obsessed with the Star Bed rooms.

Each room comes with a handcrafted four-poster bed (on wheels) which is rolled out onto raised wooden platforms so that guests can sleep under the African night sky. And while you'll sleep in your own private space (feeling entirely alone in this wildlife preservation), you'll share a communal dining area and living room with other Loisaba guests.

Once you pull yourself out of bed, you can explore this vast wildlife sanctuary. It is home to more than 260 bird and 50 mammal species. Alongside the more common wildlife, Loisaba provides critical habitat and a migration corridor 800 elephants, large herds of buffalo, dozens of the endangered zebras, endangered reticulated giraffes, several lion prides, and numerous leopards and cheetahs. You've got the entire Lion King cast.

They offer safaris by range rover, for those wanting to see as much wildlife as possible. But,. For something a little different, you can go horse or camel riding, take a mountain bike tour or do a spot of fishing in the local river.

Loisaba has its own dedicated anti-poaching team too, made up of two sniffer dogs – Nanyokie and Memusi – and their handler team. Visit the headquarters and learn about their day-to-day training and activities, as well as participating in an anti-poaching demonstration.
