Believe us when we say taking a lunch break is important, how many lunch breaks have you missed in your life? Forcing your brain to keep going a million miles an hour so you can finish ticking off a list that never ends?

Give yourself a break, rather than eating lunch at your desk, treat yourself to a lunchtime adventure, get outside, get active and increase that brain productivity. Take the break you, as a hardworking human being, deserve.

SWEAT IT OUT IN A 30-MINUTE GRIT CLASS

30-minute workouts are proven to have huge benefits to get you fit and change your body, and they're something that you need to jump on the bandwagon of. Les Mills' 30-minute GRIT classes are designed for you to complete your workout in as little as, you guessed it, 30 minutes. Forget slaving away at the gym after work (which you probably won't get to anyway), pop out for a lunchtime sweat session – trust us when we say you won't regret it. Pair up with a workout buddy so you're not only liable on yourself but on someone else too.

VISIT AUCKLAND ART GALLERY

Take a trip to Auckland Art Gallery, located on the corner of Kitchener and Wellesley Streets. There is a range of exhibitions on throughout the day, so take a midday visit and open your mind to the world of art. Looking at art and doing something creative can be very therapeutic. We guarantee your mind will be thanking you for the little escape from staring at your computer screen. Art can also encourage creative thinking, so if you're having a mental brain block at work, indulge in some art to reignite that spark.

RUN UP MT EDEN

Form a run club with your workmates and pick one day out of the week for a midday run. Whilst running can be quite painful at times, we find it more motivating to have others to run with. We've chosen Mt Eden as one of our top spots to run, the view at the top is absolutely worth it. You could even take a little picnic to eat some lunch up there. The best part about this run is you get the hardest part over with at the start, kill yourself going uphill and take it easy on the way down. You'll feel like you've accomplished much more out of your day once you get your run underway.

VISIT THE WINTERGARDENS

Get fully immersed in nature and enjoy the beauty of plants with a little trip to the Auckland Domain Wintergardens. No doubt you've seen plenty of 'grams here and wondered why you still haven't been – ah that's right, you're always working. We all know the old saying 'stop and smell the roses' and here, you can quite literally do so. Appreciate what nature has provided us with, we can assure you'll come out feeling much more relaxed and calm after getting a good dose of oxygen into your lungs.

GET A BLOW-WAVE AT DRY AND TEA

How often do you have an important meeting but run out of time in the morning to do your hair? Pop out pre-meeting and treat yourself to a blow-wave at Dry and Tea. With three locations around Auckland - Newmarket, Britomart and Cityworks Depot - there's guaranteed to be one near you. Pro tip: If it's in walking distance enjoy the fresh air en route to your appointment.
