Uber Is Giving Anyone With the Name 'Sam' Free Rides For a Week
It doesn't matter whether you're a Samuel, Samantha or Samarangadingdong — it all counts.
According to the good folks at Urban Dictionary, the definition of 'Sam' is "a really great guy who has many friends and many people love him", or "an amazingly smart girl who helps people with homework and other problems".
Private transportation app Uber has obviously taken note and is keen to showoff its appreciation for the humble name. For one week in July the global company will offer anyone with a variation of the name 'Sam' no-strings-attached free rides.
As well as being one of the most popular unisex names in New Zealand, Uber says Sam is the most common unisex name among its 300,000 riders.
For seven days from Monday 3 July, Uber is offering anyone and everyone with a name that starts with the letters S.A.M a free ride up to $20 every day. And it doesn't matter whether you're called Samuel, Samantha, Samurai or Samarangadingdong — it all counts. The free 'Sambassador' Uber rides will be available courtesy of a fleet of Sam-branded Nissans rolling through Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington.
To take advantage of the promotion all Sams need to register by Friday 30 June.
