Ballycuggaran Crag Wood Walk
This loop trail boasts excellent views of Lough Derg and may not be the longest, but its steep path will put you to the test.
Overview
Rise above Lough Derg on a challenging hike through rambling hills and dense forests. Though the Ballycuggaran Crag Wood Walk is just over seven kilometres long, it'll test your fitness thanks to the steep ascent to the summit.
The views across the nearby lake more than makeup for it. Top tip: take the trail in an anti-clockwise direction.
Once you've completed the tricky downhill section, Killaloe's pubs are perfect for an Irish feast on the waterfront.
