Shannon Blueway Kayaking
Get off the beaten track (literally) and explore Ireland's most important (and longest) river by kayak.
Overview
The Blueways are a network of walking and cycling trails that run alongside canals, rivers and lakes in Ireland. Delve deeper into the Hidden Heartlands with a kayaking trip along the Shannon Blueway.
The River Shannon is Ireland's longest and most important river. It is 360 kilometres long and flows from County Cavan to Limerick City.
The Shannon Blueway covers a region that stretches from Lough Allen to Ballyleague. It includes over 100 kilometres of canals and waterways are primed for first-class kayaking. There's no shortage of grassy resting spots along the way, so pack enough supplies for a picnic.
