Overview

PUSH is a raw, stripped-back collection of four dance works that unites the talents of Sylvie Guillem and Russell Maliphant.

Guillem made the move from to contemporary dance in 2006, after carving out a reputation as one of the greatest ballerinas of the twentieth century. Maliphant is best known for his prolific work as a choreographer, so PUSH is a rare chance to see him take the stage himself. The two artists who made the show together are also joined by a third long-time collaborator Michael Hulls. Hulls' lighting design aims to highlight the interplay between physical movement and sound, adding a third dimension to the duet and three solo pieces that make up the work.

Maliphant and Guillem will also be presenting a free talk as part of the Melbourne Festival’s Artists in Conversation on Friday, October 25 at 1pm.
