Over the last couple of years, the spot has continued to evolve, pairing its hand-crafted beers and flame-licked food with an upbeat rotation of weekly activations, ensuring there's much to love about the pirate life.
Set within a former mechanic's garage, Pirate Life South Melbourne is about a whole lot more than just beer. It's an ideal spot to settle in for an arvo catching up with a couple of mates, or getting a big group together for a bit of rowdy fun.
Proximity to the South Melbourne Market means the kitchen has access to quality produce, most of which is grilled over an open flame, creating dishes that are charry and layered with deep flavours. It's almost too easy to while away an afternoon working your way through core beers and limited edition brews, while snacking on the likes of chicken chops, potato and truffle spring rolls, wagyu beef skewers with horseradish crumb, and charred octopus with harissa.
For something more substantial, go for a beef-fat flatbread or a chicken version with labneh and pickled chilli. There's everything from cheeseburgers to beef cheek tacos, and fried chicken with curry sauce.
