Four Melbourne Sales to Hit Up This Weekend If You Want to Bag a Serious Bargain

Stock up on ceramics, organic threads and reusable cups for cheap.

A dose of retail therapy is always great (especially when Mercury is in retrograde), but it can burn a bit of a hole in your pocket. This is when sales come in handy. Luckily, there are a few of those happening this weekend. Whether you're looking to pad out your winter wardrobe, give your ceramics collection a spruce up or do a solid for the environment and snag a reusable cup, there's a sale that's got you covered. So, BYO bag or box and go bag a bargain at one of these four sales.

Doing your bit for the environment has never looked quite so good as it does with Frank Green’s colourful range of reusable cups. The durable containers are not only helping to quash Australia’s single-use coffee cup waste problem, they’re also super stylish and beautifully designed. And you’ve got the perfect excuse to add a couple to your collection (or someone else’s), when Frank Green hosts its first ever warehouse in Melbourne sale next week.

Taking over the brand’s Southbank headquarters on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, the sale will offer some very sweet bargains on a huge assortment of Frank Green products. Selling at up to 60-percent-off the usual price, you’ll find items from the Stainless Steel, Original and Next Generation collections, across the dreamy 2018 colour range.

With the cups usually going for around $30–40, you could score one for as cheap as $12 with the discount.

For the uninitiated, those Next Generation products each feature an in-built payment chip that’s linked to your Visa card, allowing you to tap and pay for that morning latte with your actual coffee cup. Very nifty – especially if you can scoop one up at a bargain price.

Frank Green Warehouse Sale runs from midday–5pm Friday and 8am–5pm Saturday.

Now that peak entertaining season is over, what better time to give your old ceramics collection a spruce up? Especially since you can score some fab pieces on the cheap, at Mud Australia’s one-weekend-only Melbourne seconds sale.

The legendary Aussie label is hosting a huge warehouse sale opposite its Fitzroy store this weekend, July 19–21, and is slinging a whole assortment of its handmade porcelain and homewares for up to 50 percent off the regular price.

Head along each day to find some very pocket-friendly deals on designs that are slightly chipped, samples colours, left over from discontinued lines, imperfectly glazed, or as the team describes, ‘outrageously organic’. There’ll be everything from tableware to bakeware, vases and lights.

Mud Australia seconds sale is open on Friday midday–7pm, Saturday 10am–4pm and Sunday 11am–3pm.

    Bassike Melbourne Warehouse Sale

Cult favourite Aussie basics label Bassike is hosting a big warehouse sale in Melbourne this month, selling its organic cotton jersey, Japanese denim and mainline collections at up to 70 percent off the regular price.

Both men’s and women’s fashion will be up for grabs for three days from July 18–20 — the sale starts at 9am each day and stock will be replenished each morning. Expect to find everything from swimwear and footwear to accessories, denim and lots of quality basics. If you’re struggling with the winter cold, you’ll (thankfully) be able to find jackets and coats here, too.

While exact prices have not yet been announced, previous warehouse sales have seen denim from $90, tees from $30 and jackets for $120 — no, these aren’t basement bargains but they are reasonable prices for these fine organic pieces.

The pop-up is also running a recycle program throughout the weekend. As part of the boutique’s zero waste goal, customers are encouraged to bring any pre-worn Bassike jersey pieces to be recycled into fabric offcuts, rags and cleaning supplies. Those who partake get to skip the queue and gain express access to the sale.

Bassike Melbourne Warehouse Sale will run from 9am–7pm on Thursday and Friday and 9am–3pm on Saturday.

If you thought Rathdowne Records’ $2 Garage Sale was a good deal, you’ll love its latest gig. The Northcote record store is offering up a whole heap of vinyl for just 50 cents each.

Head in any day until August 5 (during opening hours from 11am–6pm) and you can nab a wild variety of records for just a silver coin. A total of 5000 records will sold for this price, with 180 on the floor each day and stock rotating daily — meaning you could head in every single day and keep finding something new.

A few of the records that may be up for grabs include an original Brittany Spears’ Baby One More Time, the Sound of Music soundtrack, the Bee Gees’ 2 Years On and Elvis’s 1976 New Year’s Eve show in Pittsburgh. Plus more obscure options like soundtracks from old Japanese cop shows, a 1977 funk and soul party mix, a 1995 electronic hip hop compilation and a whole range of albums by British ska band Madness.

This insane deal may sound too good to be true, but it is indeed a reality — so stop pinching yourself and get down there already.
