L'Arte Della Gelato
The store is loved by the neighbourhood not only for its outstanding scoops, but also for the personal connection fostered each time you approach the counter.
Overview
L'Arte della Gelato on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, might be serving cold scoops, but it's dishing out warm and welcoming vibes to locals and visitors from further afield. The friendly, design-forward space showcases premium gelato and other tasty treats, including a viral hot chocolate creation.
A bright green facade will catch your eye, and convivial, welcoming service will draw you in. The fitout and the product are a masterclass in simplicity. The minimalist, airy space allows the gelato to shine, and similarly, uncompromising high-quality ingredients allow the artisanal craft of gelato-making to take centre stage without the distraction of unnecessary add-ons.

Chef Janice produces her fare in accordance with her unwavering philosophy: obsessive simplicity. Her pared-back approach highlights premium ingredients, such as single-origin Belgian chocolate, Italian pistachios and imported saffron, allowing the true essence of the ingredients to be the focus, rather than added sugars.
The store is loved by the neighbourhood not only for its outstanding scoops but also for the personal connection it fosters each time you approach the counter. Guests are encouraged to sample widely; there are no stingy taste-test rules here. Birthdays are celebrated with sparklers, and your four-legged friends are even included with dog-friendly treats.

Signature flavours include matcha strawberry, which offers a beautifully balanced sweet-and-bitter profile; an authentic Italian pistachio flavour topped with delicate saffron; and a sour cherry straciatella folded with crunchy dark chocolate. Limited specials span everything from burnt orange chocolate to toasted rhubarb almond crumble.
Adapting to the winter chill, L'Arte della Gelato has also introduced a creative hot chocolate, which is having its own viral moment. A cup of rich and creamy hot chocolate is adorned with a torched ube marshmallow flower, which blooms when the beverage is poured into the cup. Served with gelato, the hot-meets-cold experience is exciting and addictive.
