It's like your average music festival, only the mosh pit is located in waist-deep water. New Zealand's only floating music festival is back for 2019 with a new name. Previously known as Flochella, the newly branded Float festival will take place at Rotorua's Lake Tikitapu on Saturday, 16 February. While reclining on personal floatation devices from giant doughnuts to unicorns and air mattresses, festival goers will be serenaded by homegrown artists Drax Project, Mitch James, Jupiter Project, Sachi, Balu Brigada and Stan Walker. The event is alcohol and drug-free and open to all ages. This year's event saw over 5000 people descend on Lake Taupo with their best floaties. The festival comes hand in hand with New Zealand Bomb Competition, running from February 14-17. The 10m bomb scaffold will be open for casual jumps before a tense battle of the manus on Sunday afternoon. Competitors will be judged on originality, style and form. Early bird tickets are $65 and will be available from 12pm on Wednesday, 21 November. General admission tickets will be available from 9am on Friday, 23 November.
