Boutique music agency Novel, which has brought us the likes of Pitch Music & Arts and Let Them Eat Cake, has a clear knack for scouting out impressive event spaces. Having last year launched its sprawling new venue B3, down in the Marvel Stadium underground car park, the team has this week lifted the lid on its next offering — a supersized, two-level music destination that'll be known as Thornbury Social Club. To say the new northside site is large would be a bit of an understatement. Used for much of its past life as a sporting complex, the hefty venue spreads across two levels and multiple rooms, boasting a lofty warehouse arena, along with quirky added extras including an old ballroom and a series of former squash courts. As a bonus, an existing late liquor licence and the site's industrial surrounds mean party times will be able to kick on right through until 5am. Under Novel's plans, the venue will be given new life as a temple of techno, complete with state-of-the-art sound tech. It's already had a baptism of sorts, playing host to a Smalltown outing earlier this month, and Novel's already started planning the next huge events to come. Dates have been locked in for September and December — we're told to expect some big-name dance acts and immersive experiences, putting those spacious new digs to good use. Find Novel's Thornbury Social Club at 2-8 Inman Street, Thornbury. We'll keep you updated with events. Images: Novel and Duncographic.
