Continuing our Soundtrack to a Sydney summer series, The Perfect Five blogger and founder Sophie Hirst brings beats and a block party to a suburb near you. By the time summer roles around, I always have an insatiable appetite for hip-hop and right now, it's the stylistic flow of Jay Electronica that's really doing it for me. Street-Hanging is the most underrated of Summer's bountiful activities. As the name suggests, it's hanging out in the street, talking shit with your friends on those endless sweltering afternoons when it feels like your feet are melting into the bitumen. For optimal Street-Hanging you'll need: 1. A nice quiet laneway, preferrably close to your home. Sydney is filled loads of awesome hidden backsteets, laneways and and stoops particularly around Chippendale, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst. 2. Music. Preferably like the song I've selected here, something with a nice laid back hip-hop undercurrent tends to make the whole experience feel a bit more authentic. 3. Friends, obvs. 4. Equipment for activities. This may include rollerskates, jump ropes, beer bongs or just a good old fashion couch for sitting on. Put it all together and you've got a sweet way to kill a few hours while you watch the thunderstorms roll in. Fuck yeah, summer! https://youtube.com/watch?v=f3m1BZYfQ3o
