Have you ever travelled to another suburb, state or country and been dumbfounded by the amount of highrises in the outer CBD areas, then daydreamed about who lives there? Out My Window is the first feature length interactive documentary ever made, and explores the lives of those who inhabit highrise blocks across the world. The 90 minute documentary focuses on 13 homes and 49 stories of life inside the towers and the community. Entirely web-based, it allows total interaction via 360 degree panning. The viewer, or the explorer, takes ultimate control of the documentary. Out My Window is part of a larger global project, HIGHRISE, a multimedia documentary experiment that plans to generate projects which will not only explore vertical living but demonstrate how documentaries can drive social media and change our urban environment. So, when you click and drag around other people's homes, you are not just being voyeuristic but are re-inventing "what it means to be an urban species in the 21st century." [via PSFK]
