Here is the second film in our series of shorts showcasing the talent of Sydney's best young creative people. This episode features Joseph Allen Shea from Izrock Pressings and Sonny Day from WEBUYYOURKIDS. Sonny works with Biddy Maroney under the WEBUYYOURKIDS moniker. The two have made album art for the likes of Youth Group, Paul Dempsey and The Holy Soul, and created detailed clips for local darlings Washington and Belles Will Ring. In short, there's probably a piece of their work in your house right now. The aesthetic equivalent of a one-man band, Joseph Allen Shea has far more than a pair of cymbals between his knees and a harmonica in his mouth. Aside from curating Monster Children Gallery in Sydney, Allen Shea also runs his own publishing house. As only someone so deeply embedded in the local cultural fabric can, he also finds time to exhibit his own work, often appearing in the form of prints imbued with a bold, graphic sensibility — equal parts pop and social commentary. The two friends and collaborators caught up for a ride around Centennial Park to talk about their work, their creative processes and their inspirations. Enjoy. PS. If you missed the first episode, here's Jonathan Zawada and Kris Moyes chatting over beers at the Cricketers.
