Overview

Good oysters don't have to obliterate your budget. Don't believe that? Stokehouse Pasta and Bar in St Kilda is ready to prove you wrong.

Get down there any day of the week from 3–6pm and you'll be sampling the small but mighty molluscs for just $2 a pop. They're not just any old oysters, either, but NSW Pacific Nuggets, which aren't usually on the Stokehouse menu.

They're known for their impressive size — being bigger than Sydney Rock oysters — and their smooth, creamy finish. Before you ask, they do go well with a glass of champagne or a cocktail, especially the Amalfi Spritz (rosemary-infused Tanqueray gin, Italicus Bergamotto, Tommy's limoncello, Mediterranean blood orange soda and prosecco) or the Lychee Fizz (Ketel One vodka, granny smith apple, lychee, rivermint and green tea).

While you're slurping them down, you'll be soaking up stunning views of St Kilda Beach. Thanks to the colder weather, sunsets are more beautiful right now than at any other time of year.
