When it comes to catching a flick at your local cinema, sometimes the most indulgent choice you can make is opting for the chilli choc top over plain vanilla. Yet Palace Cinemas has planned something a little more fancy. Serving up a nostalgic nod to the golden age of cinema, this collaboration with revered Scottish distillery, The Glendronach, is happening from Wednesday, November 12–Friday, November 14.
Featuring a trio of screenings held exclusively at Palace Cinemas Como, movie-goers can take part in a limited-edition whisky-meets-film experience, where rare single malt sips are paired with much-loved cinematic classics and revamped snacks to boot. Shaped by renowned film critic Zak Hepburn, this luxury cinema encounter offers a myriad of silver screen perks.
Presented alongside screenings of The Great Gatsby, Y tu mamá también, and The Godfather, each session begins with a single-malt tasting. Then, guests sip back bespoke whisky and cocktail pairings designed to suit the on-screen action. Following caviar-topped popcorn and Spanish charcuterie platters, the night rounds out with a special tasting of a $2000 whisky never before seen on Australian shores.
"Pairing film and whisky is about more than flavour; it's about emotion, atmosphere and storytelling," says Hepburn. "Each Glendronach expression evokes a distinct mood — from bold and brooding to rich and nostalgic — inviting guests to experience cinema and whisky in a completely new way."
