AICE Israeli Film Festival 2015
Religion, culture and LGBT issues each get their own special focus in this year's program.
Overview
The AICE Israeli Film Festival is back for 2015, showcasing a selection of features, documentaries and shorts from some of the region's leading filmmakers. Curated by incoming festival director Richard Moore, previously of the Brisbane and Melbourne International Film Festivals, this year's program is split into six distinctive sections, each of which aims to explore a different facet of Israeli cinema.
'Blast from the Past' showcases titles from years gone by, while 'Queer Spot' includes films that reflect the experiences of Israel's LGBT community. 'Culture Corner' contains films that concern Israeli culture more broadly, across mediums such as theatre, music and poetry. 'Questions of Faith' features films with a religious angle; 'First Course' showcases the best of the festival's short film program; while 'On The Edge' is reserved for the most hard-hitting stories, including those that deal with hot-button political issues facing the Israeli people today.
