Overview

Residents of Melbourne, here's some good news to buoy you in these dark times. After a successful kick-off last year, Barkly Square in Brunswick is once again running a pop-up cinema on Saturday nights throughout December and January. It'll go down in the laneway of the shopping centre, which means you'll always have somewhere to grab a bite to eat as well.

The best part is that all proceeds from the event will be donated to a rotating range of charities, including The Brotherhood of St Laurence, Forever Friends Animal Rescue, The Smith Family, Make-A-Wish Australia, Berry Street, VicDeaf and Melbourne City Mission. And even better, tickets are only a tenner. Take that Hoyts. There's only 60 seats per screening though, so be sure to book early — especially for the spesh Christmas screenings. On the whole, the lineup is pretty decent and eclectic, with everything from Amelie on opening night to The Nightmare Before Christmas to The Big Lebowski, and a special doggo night.
