Overview
There's no need to wait until the weekend arrives to crack open a special bottle of wine. But what Collins Street's Reine & La Rue is serving up will almost certainly outdo anything you can pluck from the fridge or cellar. Until sold out, the team is whipping out the trusty Coravin to pour a remarkable selection of Château Rayas wines.
With strictly limited pours available, guests can sip 50-, 75-, and 150-millilitre formats, with just one to three bottles on hand per wine. Sourced directly from renowned Rhône Valley appellations, including the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Côtes du Rhône, drops from this legendary French estate are rarely listed in Australia — and almost never poured by the glass.
Poured from Wednesday, May 6, up till the last drop is gone, your options include Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2012, priced from $87 for a 50ml pour, as well as 50ml pours of Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2012 and 2013, priced at $140 and $137, respectively.
Also on the menu are a selection of Château des Tours and Domaine des Tours wines — also owned by Château Rayas winemaker Emmanuel Reynaud — with 50ml pours starting from $20. Tucked into the heritage surrounds of Reine & La Rue's ornate stock exchange turned French fine-diner, it's hard to imagine a more suitable space to enjoy top-quality wine.
