If you've ever wanted to get right to the guts of gut microbes, and their link to mental health, here's an exhibition you'll want to check out. Gut Feelings: Your Mind, Your Microbes has landed at Melbourne Museum, offering a fascinating glimpse at exactly what's going on inside these tummies of ours.

Displaying in the Mind and Body Gallery until February 2, 2020, this one's an immersive, multi-sensory exploration of microbes and gut health that promises to separate the facts from the hype. Will kombucha help your gut? How bad is gluten? What are villi? You'll found out all the answers here.

You'll also catch installations of both art and science, wander through a giant 'gut tunnel' for a close-up look at how microbes work, play video games based on how foods react with your body, touch 3D villi and learn about everything from poo-transplants to probiotic-rich diets.

With around one to two kilograms of each person's body weight taken up by microbes, it's an important research field, and Gut Feelings: Your Mind, Your Microbes shares the latest of these cutting-edge gut health revelations.
