Overview

Local maker markets are on the rise these days, as more and more shoppers are seeking out quality wares made by Aussie artists and designers. And while there are some mighty big annual markets at Fed Square and the Royal Exhibition Building, the mere size of these can be overwhelming.

That's why we are all for the smaller local markets, where you can casually shop around each of the stalls while taking your time to speak to owners. One of these is the Handmade Design Market at Coburg Town Hall, which showcases all kinds of businesses.

From 10am–3pm on Sunday, September 15 and Sunday, December 15 (just before Christmas), punters can head over to Cobrg and discover new products made by local artisans.

The full list of traders has yet to be announced, but you can expect to find clothing and accessories, homewares, ceramics, cakes, and beauty products. Just about every kind of maker is free to sell their creations at the Handmade Design Market — as long as their products are made by hand.

Entry is $5 at the door or free if you register at the market's website.
